Covid-19; Situation update for GPV production sites, 23 March 2020

Latest update on the Covid-19 situation and its impact on GPV production sites.

We will update the situation every second day, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The customer order situation is individually handled through direct GPV contact persons.

GPV Electronics in Kochchikade, Sri Lanka
The Government of Sri Lanka has decided to continue the curfew until 27 March 2020. This means that we are unable to resume production. However, on Tuesday 24 March 2020, we are allowed to handle some logistics. We continue to monitor the situation closely and will inform as soon as we have further information.

GPV Electronics in Mendrisio, Switzerland
Today 23 March 2020, the production site in Mendrisio is unable to operate due to further restrictions imposed by the Italian government as well as from the government of the canton Ticino in Switzerland. The majority of employees at GPV Electronics in Mendrisio live in Italy, where the government has declared a complete curfew including the entire private sector.

GPV Electronics in Switzerland is one of the important suppliers of electronics to the medical industry. Therefore, the production site is allowed to operate with limited capacity only serving this market. Unfortunately, this means a necessary lower priority of other orders in this uncontrollable situation. We follow the situation closely and will inform as soon as we have further information.

A special task force including sales, global sourcing and shipping continues to closely monitor the development to secure a scheduled, steady flow of supplies to maintain production at full speed wherever possible. Furthermore, we work closely with our supply chain partners to obtain forecast with regards to potential disruption of deliveries of goods.

Consider current open orders and related logistics
Our freight forwarders have informed us that limited flight and container capacity can result in delays in transit time and cause prices to rise. Therefore, we recommend all customers to consider open orders as well as related logistics. Your direct contact person will approach you and discuss adjustments and prioritisations wherever needed. We will do all we can to accommodate these needs in a fast and flexible manner.
