Bo Lybæk, CEO & President of GPV International A/S, Denmark, turns 60 on 12 April 2020.
Over the last 12 years, Bo Lybæk has headed GPV International A/S, Denmark’s largest manufacturer of electronics and electromechanical products with an annual revenue of DKK 2.8bn, some 4,000 employees and production facilities in nine countries across Europe, Asia and America.
In 1986, Bo Lybæk graduated from Aalborg University with an MSc in Engineering, to which he later added several international educational programmes, among these an MBA (Diplom KMU) from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland.
Bo Lybæk began his career as a research and development engineer with Terma A/S in Grenaa, Denmark. In 1988, he moved to Switzerland with his family where he took up positions as Deputy Director and Head of Production and Technology, initially with Swiss company Cellpac AG and subsequently with Biberist AG.
Following nearly eight years in Switzerland, Bo Lybæk returned to Denmark with his family in 1996 to accept an appointment as Managing Director of LR Plast A/S. He was also subsequently appointed Managing Director of Hydro Extrusion Denmark A/S, Norsk Hydro Danmark A/S and, in 2008, of GPV International A/S.
If you ask Bo Lybæk to name the common denominator of the many different industries that he has headed – from aviation and aerospace to mean voltage, aluminium and electronics – he will tell you that it is primarily the fact that the all companies in question were trusted subcontractors to global corporations. Forming partnerships with one’s customers and delivering excellent service are key to running a successful business. These are principles which Lybæk has epitomised throughout his career. A company that does not manufacture standard products must constantly develop products in collaboration with its customers.
Throughout his 12 years at the head of GPV International A/S, Bo Lybæk has overseen the implementation of many major initiatives. In 2016, the Danish industrial conglomerate Schouw & Co. acquired GPV, and towards the end of 2018, GPV acquired its Swiss-based peer CCS Group. As CEO and President of GPV International A/S, Bo Lybæk has played an important role in establishing a new and important player in the international electronics market and set new standards for fostering partnerships with customers, establishing competitive prices and providing extremely high levels of service.
In addition to being Chairman of the Board of all GPV’s subsidiaries, Bo Lybæk is also actively involved in a number of boards and committees under the Confederation of Danish Industries and serves on the boards of Esbjerg Farve- og Lakfabrik, A/S Jydsk Aluminiums Industri and KSN A/S.
On account of the current corona crisis, both the reception at GPV and the large family party have been postponed to the autumn. On the day itself, Bo Lybæk will be celebrating his milestone birthday with close family.
