On 17 January 2000, the GPV Group took over Esko-Graphics A/S' sheet metal production and cabinet assembly activities. Gert Munch-Hansen, Production Manager, explains that instead of maintaining an in-house production department, which could not be utilised optimally on account of seasonal variations, Esko-Graphics chose to outsource an entire production unit.
At the same time, it was possible to reap the benefits of scale as the production tasks could
be included in a large volume of production orders at GPV.
In order to handle this complete solution assignment, GPV stationed a project group at Esko-Graphics for six months to ensure smooth initiation of the working relationship. At the same time, all documentation in the form of production drawings and parts lists - around 12,000
drawings in all - was transferred to the GPV system.
The GPV Group supplies both mechanical and electronic parts as well as complete system solutions to Esko-Graphics. Delivering 200,000 units a year, the Group is Esko-Graphics' largest single supplier.
Esko-Graphics was born of a merger between Purup-Eskofot - a leading global supplier of prepress equipment for the graphics industry - and Barco Graphics, the leading global supplier of digital pre-production solutions for the packaging industry.
